Important Update to Our Privacy Practices

Effective February 16, 2026

At Atreyu Therapy Cottage, your privacy is our highest priority. In alignment with new federal regulations (the 2024 Part 2 Final Rule), we have updated our Notice of Privacy Practices to give you more control over your health information.

What has changed?

  • Simplified Consent: You can now provide a single consent for us to share your records for Treatment, Payment, and Healthcare Operations (TPO). This helps us coordinate your care more smoothly with your other doctors and insurance.

  • Expanded Rights: You now have the right to request an accounting of disclosures—a list of everyone we have shared your electronic records with for the past 3 years.

  • Enhanced Legal Protections: Federal law now provides even stronger "Safe Harbor" protections, strictly prohibiting the use of your substance use disorder records in legal proceedings against you without your specific consent.

  • Out-of-Pocket Privacy: If you pay for a service in full out-of-pocket, you have a strengthened right to restrict that information from being shared with your health insurance plan.

What do you need to do? The next time you log into the Client Portal, you will see an updated Release of Information and Notice of Privacy Practices for your signature. Please review and sign these documents to ensure your care continues without interruption.

Our mission is to serve as many people in our community as possible, which is why we strive to be in-network with a wide range of insurance companies. We will need to see your insurance card to confirm that we are in-network with your specific plan.

YOUR RIGHT TO A GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE:

Notice to Patients and Prospective Patients

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act and Washington state law, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

In our practice, this ensures that you are fully informed of your financial responsibility before beginning treatment, particularly if you are uninsured, underinsured, or choosing not to use your insurance (self-pay).

Your Rights Under the Law:

  • Request an Estimate: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like intake fees, regular psychotherapy sessions, and specialized family or couples sessions.

  • Timeline for Delivery: * If you schedule a service at least 3 business days in advance, we will provide the estimate within 1 business day of scheduling.

    • If you schedule at least 10 business days in advance, we will provide it within 3 business days.

    • You can also ask for an estimate before you even schedule an appointment.

  • The Right to Dispute: If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

  • No Obligation: A Good Faith Estimate is for your information only. It is not a contract and does not require you to obtain the services listed.
